The crew due in town this week to inspect the Effingham County 911 system is to arrive this evening.

911 System Administrator Jodi Moomaw said the group from Intertech Associates is to be in Effingham at 6pm.  The group was hired to see whether the 911 system could be made more efficient.

Moomaw said the group will look over the City dispatching center at the Effingham Police Department tonight, and will meet with some area fire chiefs and with Effingham City Administrator Jim Arndt.

Tuesday will feature an inspection of the County dispatching center at the Effingham County Jail.  Tuesday and Wednesday will involve conversations with representatives of various emergency services agencies.  The group plans to fly home on Thursday.

Moomaw said the group will make visits to the Effingham County Fair since several officials will be there during the visits this week.

The inspection is the outgrowth of more than 15 years of wrangling over whether the 911 system should have separate dispatching points and whether other steps could be taken to make sure the system could be made more efficient.
