Chamber Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce recently announced the recipients of the 2013 Chamber Community Scholarships.

The recipients of the adult scholarships are Joseph Garland, Nicole Haarmann, Monica Lin and Zachary Pruemer of Effingham and Abbie Massengill of Sigel.  Garland is currently attending Lake Land College to pursue his degree in Business Management.  Haarmann attends the University of Missouri to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine.  Lin attends Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville pursuing a degree in Nursing.  Pruemer attends Lake Land College studying Pre-Physical Therapy.  Massengill attends Southern Illinois University School of Medicine pursuing a degree in Medical Education.

The recipients of the high school scholarships are Luke Armstrong of Altamont High School, Michael Goldstein of St. Anthony High School, Christopher Lidy of Dieterich High School and Leah Kremer and Emily Weichman of Teutopolis High School.  Armstrong will attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis to study Pre-Optometry.  Goldstein will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering.  Lidy will attend Greenville College to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering.  Kremer will attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Architecture.  Weichman will attend St. Louis College of Pharmacy studying Pharmacy.

Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship to be used for tuition, books and fees.

All 2013 sponsors of the Chamber Community Scholarship Program were also recognized during the luncheon.  Special recognition was given to Exclusive Sponsors J & J Ventures Gaming LLC and Vantage Outsourcing.  Exclusive Sponsors contribute $1,000 to the scholarship fund.  Leah Kremer was awarded the J & J Ventures Gaming LLC Exclusive Scholarship and Joseph Garland was awarded the Vantage Outsourcing Exclusive Scholarship.

Special recognition was also given to the Platinum Sponsors, which include Effingham New Car Dealers Association, Koerner Distributor, Siemer Milling Company, and Washington Savings Bank.  Platinum Sponsors contribute $500 or more to the scholarship fund.  Representatives from those companies were on hand for the presentation.
