A trucker had a narrow escape early today along I-57 in Marion County.

State police say 40-year-old John Germann of Nashville, Illinois was on the steps of his semi parked along the shoulder of the interstate near the Kinmundy-Patoka interchange at 4am when a passing semi struck Germann's left leg and also clipped the mirror on the driver's side of Germann's semi.

The passing semi did not stop.

Germann was taken for treatment of injuries to Salem Public Hospital.
