Two-Vehicle Collision in Effingham Sends One Person to Hospital

A two-vehicle collision on Effingham's northwest side sent a person to the hospital Thursday evening.

The crash occurred just after 5:30pm at the intersection of Ford Avenue and the northeast entrance of Walmart.  City police say a vehicle driven by 71-year-old Janet Shelton of Beecher City pulled in front of and was struck by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old James Gormley of Effingham.

Gormley was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Shelton was cited for failure to yield.
