Clay County board members discussed whether to expand the county jail in Louisville at this week's meeting.
There was no action by the Board on an addition to the jail, but it was agreed to get an estimate on the cost of repairing the jail roof.
The Board discussed a proposed animal shelter and where it would be housed in closed session, but no action was taken.
Board members approved a two-dollar increase in the cost of filing a death certificate. The increase was mandated by the State and will go to the State's Cemetery Oversight Fund. The Board also approved the State's prevailing wage ordinance for the year; named D.J. Baker a trustee of the Clay City Fire Protection District; and appointed Randy Poole to the county Airport Authority for a five-year term.
Board members approved the county health department budget; and reappointed Chris Elliott as Public Defender for another year beginning July 1.
