This summer treat your kids to theater performance learning and fun with the EPC’s Youth Theater Camp.  Summer Youth Theater Camp is designed for kids ages 8-18.

Camp begins Monday, July 8 and runs through Thursday, July 18.  Registration forms may be picked up at the Effingham Performance Center, 1325 Outer Belt West, Effingham, IL during box office hours, Monday-Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or downloaded at www.theepc.org. To receive registration materials by mail, phone (217) 540-2788, extension 222.  The tuition for the camp is $125.

Summer Youth Theater Camp is a theater training program that teaches students a basic curriculum of focus, voice and diction, improvisation, character study, and movement. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and/or ability. They will learn theater performing techniques under the direction of trained theater professionals. Each camper will gain education about theater and performing, boost his/her self-confidence, and become more comfortable interacting with others both one-on-one and in front of large groups.

Camp coordinator and EPC General Manager Rich Jorn says, “Not only do our campers gain confidence and a life skill of speaking and performing publicly, but our camp also creates artists, audiences and arts lovers for the future.” Campers attend sessions Monday through Friday in the first week and Monday through Thursday the second week, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The camp dates are July 8th  – July 18th. There will be a performance that showcases everything the students have learned during the course of the camp on Thursday, July 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the theater.

Effingham Performance Center is operated by Arts Connection of Central Illinois, a not-for-profit organization, that has been established for the citizens of Effingham County and beyond to showcase arts and entertainment, to encourage interaction with and appreciation of live performance, to endorse the educational process and to enhance the quality of life and cultural vitality of the region.
