The Effingham Knights of Columbus Council fared well at the State Convention held in Springfield.

The Effingham Council received first place awards for their Scrapbook and Newsletter and received recognition for being in the top four of the Councils in the Springfield Diocese for programming, charitable and membership goals.

In addition, the Effingham Council proposed a resolution to the State Council for support of the John Paul II Medical Research Institute.  With Rick, Jami, Jacob, Luke and Luci Johnson in attendance, the State Council passed the resolution.

Also at the Convention, Don Niebrugge of the Effingham Council was presented the State Medallion by State Deputy Rich Spada.  This is the highest honor a Knight can be awarded by the State Deputy.  Niebrugge is the fourth member of the Effingham Council so honored, joining Bob Walker, Rich Worman and Leonard Kinkelaar.
