The Teutopolis Unit 50 School District has officially amended its contract with the Teutopolis Education Association.

The Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education voted unanimously at this week's board meeting to approve a Memorandum of Understanding to amend the salary schedules set forth in the existing collective bargaining agreement. The current agreement extends through the 2023-2024 academic year for both teachers and support staff members. The voluntary amendment was mutually agreed to by the Teutopolis Education Association and will increase certified staff salaries and support staff hourly wages.

Superintendent Matt Sturgeon said, "Teutopolis students have access to a talented and dedicated team of teachers and staff. This amendment helps to recognize the commitment and efforts of our Wooden Shoe workforce, and will ensure that the District is able to recruit, hire and maintain the highest quality staff going forward.”

Teachers will receive an extra $1,000 and support personnel an extra $2/hour for services rendered in the 2023-2024 academic year. The existing agreement already includes Board contributions to staff member medical insurance, tuition reimbursements, dual credit instructor stipends, athletic coach and non-athletic sponsorship stipends, and other employee benefits.

TEA Co-Presidents Jeannie Gaddis, Wendy Kreke and Darlene Unkraut commented, "We are grateful to the Teutopolis Board of Education, the administrative team, and our association membership for continuing to work collaboratively to support our students and schools."

Sturgeon indicated that Teutopolis has several teaching and support staff positions available for 2023-24, and that interested individuals are encouraged to contact the District to learn more about becoming a Wooden Shoe.
