Teutopolis Board Fills Administrative Positions

Teutopolis school board members Monday finalized administrative positions for the coming school year.

The district's three building principals were re-hired...Tanner Lawson as high school principal, Pat Drees as junior high school principal, and Sherry Hoehn as grade school principal. The Board also hired Derrick Zerrusen as District Activities and Athletic Director. Zerrusen, a Teutopolis native, has been serving as Charleston athletic director. He will succeed Laurie Thompson, who is stepping back fulltime into the classroom and as Lady Shoes varsity basketball coach.

The Board also appointed Sarah Lin as district treasurer and as bookkeeper. Also hired and/or assigned were Brooke Hoene and Kendra Bierman as high school counselors, Hannah Kreke as first grade teacher, and Kelsey Hutmacher as high school English I teacher (from high school Special Education teacher). 

Board members also accepted resignations from Antonio Munoz as volleyball assistant coach, Cheryl McLeod as grade school paraprofessional, and Barbara Williams as a bus driver. 

The Board approved athletic officials compensation for the coming school year; entered into a four-year electric supply agreement with Constellation Energy as secured through Affordable Gas and Electric; renewed membership in the IESA and IHSA for the coming school year; approved the calendar for the coming school year with the first day for students on August 16; and set end of year dates with high school graduation on Sunday, May 21 at 2:30pm and junior high promotion on Thursday, May 18 at 7:30pm in J.H Griffin Gym. 

Board members heard from teacher Al Church and students of the high school Robotics Club on their upcoming field trip to Kansas City in April, then approved the trip; amended the school year calendar to reflect a not in attendance day on March 9 and then added one more attendance day in May; approved summer camps; approved the SEPCO cooperative purchasing agreement; approved the employee non-resident waiver for the coming school year; and approved the renewal of student management system software for the coming school year.
