Dieterich school board members Monday discussed their renovation and expansion project now underway.

The Board discussed adding new vocational space to the current project. The space could house Agriculture and Auto Technology departments. Further planning that includes detailed cost estimates are being explored.

As to the already approved construction project, significant progress was reported in the gym lobby area. The District will be adding six classrooms, restrooms and a science lab, as well as renovating all existing restrooms.

Also Monday, the Dieterich board approved next school year's calendar with a first day of student attendance on August 17, and a teacher's institute the prior day.

In personnel matters, the Dieterich board accepted the resignation of Special Education teacher Bridget Walters, effective at the end of the current school year, approved an unpaid leave of absence for support staff employee Katie Hagen from April 26 to May 5, approved Josh Kreke as a volunteer coach for junior high and high school softball, and hired Megan Marks as a junior/senior high school Math teacher for the coming school year.

The Board also renewed the District's student management system subscription, and accepted the district's library grant from the Secretary of State's Office for $850.
