The US House of Representatives has passed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2023. The measure rescinds the US military's COVID vaccine mandate.

The measure passed with wide bipartisan support with a tally of 350 to 80.

The elimination of the COVID vaccine mandate is a key victory for Republicans. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said the measure wouldn't move forward without removing the mandate.

Local Congresswoman Mary Miller said, "We can celebrate that the Biden COVID vaccine mandate for our troops will finally end thanks to the hard work of a small group of conservatives who held the line on behalf of our armed forces."

The matter must still pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Biden. The White House has indicated they still support the mandate, but it is not expected to reject the legislation.
