(TONY SIEMER AND GREG KOESTER)

Members of the Effingham Noon Rotary Club learned about the Effingham County Memorial Airport at their meeting August 17.

Club Member Tony Siemer, who chairs the Effingham County Airport Commission, introduced Effingham County Engineer Greg Koester, who also oversees the airport.

Koester discussed the airport in general, and reviewed the upcoming east-west runway extension project, which will see the runway extended to 6,000 feet. The extension will allow larger jets and other aircraft to utilize the airport.

Koester also reviewed plans for construction of a multi-hangar building, replacing a structure that has been in place for 40 years.
