Clay Board Learn of New Deputy

Clay County board members approved the appointment of Jason Abner as deputy sheriff at this month's meeting.

Abner is a Clay County native who moved to California and worked for the Los Angeles Police Department. Once he retired, he moved back to Clay County.

Clay County Treasurer Jana Tolliver reminded of the due dates for county property tax bill payments. At least the first installment is due September 26, while the second installment is due on October 28.

Board members approved an engineering agreement and a contract with Gonzalez Companies for improvements on an eight-mile stretch of Hickory Hill Lane.

Board Chairman Joe Goodman reminded of a strategic planning session to be held at the end of August.
