Andy Johnson is now on the job as Superintendent of the Effingham Unit 40 School District.

Johnson succeeds Mark Doan, who retired after 11 years as Unit 40 superintendent.

Johnson is a McLeansboro native and attended Hamilton County school district. The McKendree University graduate spent 14 years in the Marissa school district as a teacher and coach, then moved to Teutopolis where he served as athletic director and assistant high school principal for seven years. Johnson just concluded his sixth year as Jasper Unit 1 superintendent.

When hired in October, Johnson said his #1 goal is "to serve. God has blessed me with a servant heart and I am looking forward to sharing that with all of you."
