The Effingham City Zoning Board of Appeals has granted a setback variance that will aid in the development of a residential subdivision in town.

The property is at the end of Oak Pointe Drive, north and east of Kohl's. The owner of the parcel, Kabbes Development Group, had attempted to develop the property commercially, but since has decided to switch to a residential development.

The variance on setbacks is for two of the 14 lots in the subdivision, which will border Lake Pauline.
