Neoga school district voters Tuesday passed a bond referendum that will finance improvements to existing facilities.

The referendum will generate up to $3.5 million. The funds would help pay for a new roof on the grade school building, tuckpointing of the junior/senior high school building, replacement of floor tile containing asbestos, remodeling three Science classrooms, and remodeling work in the junior/senior high school library.

The bonds that would be sold to finance the improvements would not be levied until current bonds are retired, and would also be less in taxes than the current bonds.

The referendum passed in all three counties that make up the Neoga school district...171 to 132 in Shelby County, 475 to 272 in Cumberland County, and 30 to 17 in Coles County.
