Contested Race Results in Area Counties

There weren't many contested races in area counties on Primary Election Day Tuesday.

Here's a recap:

In Jasper County, there were four candidates on the Republican ticket for three seats on the Jasper County Board in District 3. The three who advanced to the general election are Benjamin Bollman, Jason Warfel, and Marion (Doug) Weddell with 442, 435 and 407 votes, respectively. Daniel Kerner received 372 votes.

In Shelby County, incumbent Erica Firnhaber defeated Missy Haynes for the Republican nomination for County Treasurer, 2,732 to 1,909. In the Republican race for Shelby County Board District 10, Tim Morse and Martha Firnhaber were nominated with 212 and 210 votes, respectively. Sharon Ongman received 183 votes.

In Cumberland County, Incumbent Sheriff Steve Maroon won the Republican nomination over Larry Wicke, 1,861 to 394. In the Republican race for Cumberland County Board Central District, Todd Layton and Jonathan Kaye were nominated with 433 and 432 votes, respectively. Ronald Black received 318 votes. In the County Board Western District, Todd Beard and Floyd Holkenbrink were nominated with 482 and 468 votes, respectively. Aaron Beard received 190 votes.

In Clay County, Stacey Allen defeated Derrian Wood 2,014 to 1,433 to win the Republican nomination for County Treasurer. In Clay County Board District B, Rod Franklin defeated John Bayler for the Republican nomination 168 to 122, and in Clay County Board District E, Troy Britton defeated incumbent Jeremy Wildbur 171 to 81. Clay County in Harter Township also approved the sale of liquor. On the question, a No vote permitted the sale. The NO's won 345 to 142.
