A Farina man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for drugs.

35-year-old John Caldwell received the sentence Monday in Clay County Circuit Court. Caldwell had been charged with delivering between five and 15 grams of methamphetamine on February 8. He pled guilty to the offense on April 18.

Caldwell will serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

The investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police, Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said, 'I want to thank the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and Clay County Sheriff's Office for their hard work in combating the ever-growing Methamphetamine problem in our community. We hope that this sentence deters others from dealing Methamphetamine in Clay County."
