Cumberland School Board Approves Four-Year Teacher Contract

Cumberland school board members have approved a four-year contract agreement with the Cumberland Education Association.

The contract will be effective with the coming school year.

In personnel matters, the Cumberland board employed Makiah Koonce as an elementary teacher, hired Chloee Hughes Carver as a special education teacher, accepted the resignation of Katie Conlin as a special education teacher, accepted the resignation of Tracy Wright as middle school volleyball head coach, accepted the resignation of Any Sandschafer as a teacher, accepted the letter of retirement from bus aide Donna Abbott effective immediately, employed Tara Beard as an elementary teacher, and employed Jennifer Lawson as an elementary teacher.

Board members accepted a bid from AR Mechanical for purchase and installation of a freezer for $29,586, and accepted the purchase and installation of two natural gas ovens for $56,027. The Board also renewed commercial property and casualty insurance through North Wayne Insurance.

The Cumberland board also discussed moving ahead as soon as possible with monthly rental of a new phone system. The Board has received information that the district will not have phone maintenance service after the end of this month. Frontier will provide replacement units if needed.
