Primary Election Day in Illinois is set for Tuesday.

Polls will be open from 6am to 7pm. A reminder that Early Voting will also be available Monday from 8am to 4pm at the County Clerk's Office.

There are not many contests on the local level on Tuesday.

One race is for the Republican nomination for Effingham County Resident Circuit Judge. Jeffrey DeLong and Bryan Kibler are the candidates for the nomination. DeLong is an associate circuit judge, while Kibler now serves as Effingham County State's Attorney. Both would remain in their current office if they lose the primary contest. There is no elected incumbent in the race. Martin Siemer has been serving as interim Resident Circuit Judge since the retirement of Kimberly Koester.

Those in Effingham County Board District H have a contest on the Republican ballot, as Sandra Gillet and Dale Wallace are both seeking the nomination. Incumbent Rob Arnold is not seeking re-election.

A portion of Effingham County will be in the 54th State Senate district where there is a contest on the Republican ballot. Steve McClure, an incumbent state senator, is taking on businessman and CPA Donald DeBolt. Under the Senate remap, Jason Plummer of Collinsville is now seeking election to another Senate term in the 55th District, but still would represent a portion of the county, while Chapin Rose is seeking another Senate term in the 51st District. Portions of the county will be in those three different senate districts following the November general election.

Aside from statewide contests, the only contest in Efingham County on the Democrat ballot is in the race for 12th District Congressman. Homer "Chip" Markel of Carbondale is vying for the nomination against Joshua Qualls of Centralia.

At the state level on the Democrat ballot, Tammy Duckworth is unopposed for another term as US Senator, incumbent J.B. Pritzker is opposed by Beverly Miles, and there are four candidates for Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, David Moore, Anna Valencia and Sidney Moore in the race to succeed the retiring Jesse White.

At the state level on the Republican ballot, there are seven candidates for US Senator, Casey Chlebek, Peggy Hubbard, Robert Piton, Jimmy Tillman II, Anthony Williams, Kathy Salvi and Matthew Dubiel; six candidates for Governor, Darren Bailey, Paul Schimpf, Richard Irvin, Gary Rabine, Max Solomon and Jesse Sullivan; three candidates for Secretary of State, Steve Kim, David Shestokas and Thomas DeVore; and two candidates for Secretary of State, Dan Brady and John Milhiser.

The other race on the Republican ballot is the contest for Appellate Judge, where Mike McHaney is taking on Barry Vaughan. McHaney is currently a judge in the 4th Judicial Circuit.
