Effingham city police have released details on a crash that occurred over the noon hour Wednesday on the city's south end.

The crash occured at 12:06pm at the intersection of South Banker Street and Walk Avenue. Police report a vehicle driven by 82-year-old Carol Purcell of Teutopolis struck a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Roch Hartke of Effingham.

Both drivers were injured, as well as a passenger in Hartke's vehicle, 55-year-old Thomas Lohman of Dieterich. Hartke and Lohman were both airlifted from the scene, while Purcell was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.

The crash occurred about the same time as an incident in which an employee at a local plant on the south end of the city was injured. The employee was taken for treatment, but is expected to recover well.

A separate crash occurred at 1:12pm Wednesday at 1204 West Jefferson.

City police report a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Benjamin Noble of Newnan, Georgia, struck an unoccupied parked vehicle owned by Katie Clagg of Dieterich.

Noble was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's for a medical condition.
