Officials have filed a speedy trial motion in the pending Missouri cases against cop killer Ray Tate.

The 40-year-old Tate is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the December 29, 2021 slaying of Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley. After gunning down Deputy Riley, Tate hijacked a vehicle and fled to Missouri where is accused of committing a string of violent crimes, including shooting one man and committing a number of carjackings. In the motion for a speedy trial, Missouri officials have asked that Tate’s trial commence on or before December 9.

Tate has been charged with the following offenses in St. Charles County Missouri, Count 1 – First Degree Kidnapping; Count 2 – Vehicle Hijacking – Serious Physical Injury with a Deadly Weapon; Count 3 – Armed Criminal Action; Count 4 – Kidnapping and Terrorizing 1st Degree; Count 5 – Armed Criminal Action; Count 6 – First Degree Robbery; Count 7 – Kidnapping, Second Degree; Count 8 – Vehicle Hijacking Causing Serious Injury; Count 9 – Armed Criminal Action; Count 10 – First Degree Robbery; Count 11 – Vehicle Hijacking with Physical Injury; Count 12 – Assault Causing Serious Physical Injury; Count 13 – Armed Criminal Action; and Count 14 – Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

In the extremely unlikely chance that Tate gets released from the Illinois Department of Corrections, Missouri officials have an arrest warrant in hand. Bond on the active warrant against Tate carries a $5 million cash only bond.

Tate is currently housed at the Menard State Penitentiary at Chester.
