Effingham Water Authority trustees discussed air conditioning in the Pearson Building at this month's meeting.

Trustee Jim Boos brought up the discussion. Parks and Recreation Committee Chairman Tom Ryan said Pearson Building improvements would be in the last phases of the project.

Since the Department of Natural Resources has a no-alcohol policy, Ryan suggested finding someone who would be interested in providing partnership and/or capitalization in making the Pearson Building an event center.

Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks will get information together regarding the percentage of rentals for the Pearson Building.

Meanwhile, trustees heard from Scott Ealy about a concrete dock at the Pearson Building that Dirks said would be removed by his crew this summer, and from Jack Schultz who is concerned about the state of Lot 27 Boos and Grunloh #2 and said that the situation needs to be addressed soon.

Additionally, trustees removed a request for a re-plat of two other lots in Boos and Grunloh #2 and issued a variance for Schultz to add two walls to make a courtyard. Trustees also decided to personally look at property involved in a reaod replat request from Josh Jennings before making a decison, and heard from Dirks that patchwork needs to be done near a stop sign at Kingwood Subdivision. It was also decided to ban a pontoon boat owned by Jerry McDaniel as jet-propelled craft are not permitted on the lake.

Ryan reported that a group of volunteers painted the bath house at the beach, that Sunrise Rotary is finalizing a bocce ball court, and that there is discussion regarding disc golf tournaments this summer. Ryan also brought up vendor trucks in the park so trustees can consider how those would be handled in the future.

Trustees also heard that there is research underway on seeking a $60,000 clean water grant.

Jane Montello of Good Neighbors of Lake Sara reported they have 143 households and nine business members.
