Charges Filed in Two Shelby County Criminal Cases

Shelby County State's Attorney Nichole Kroncke announced arrests in two criminal cases.

49-year-old Chad Hammond of Shelbyville was arrested on two counts of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, unlawful possession of methamphetamine with a prior conviction on the same count, driving on a revoked or suspended license with eight prior convictions, two counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage to government-supported property, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Hammond is alleged to have fled from Shelby County Deputy Brennan Atkinson. He is also charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident in November of 2019.

Bond for Hammond was set at $500,000. He is next due in court on June 8.

Also arrested was 51-year-old Steven Kilcrease of Herrick. Kilcrease is charged with aggravated domestic battery with a prior aggravated domestic battery count.

It's alleged that on Wednesday Kilcrease strangled a family member, struck the victim in the face and body, struck the victim with a belt and a broom, and burned the victim's neck.

Bond for Kilcrease was set at $500,000. He is next due in court on June 10.
