End of year activities were shared with members of the North Clay Board of Education at Wednesday's meeting.

The activities included graduation this past weekend, the Prom at the end of April, and an honor graduate program on May 4.

The graduation activities included the traditional North Clay "senior walk" on May 13, following graduation practice. The seniors walked down the hallways of North Clay elementary, junior high and high school for one last time as students. Other students lined the hallways and cheered on the seniors.

Even the sad times can be marked appropriately. The recent death of North Clay student Cody Blair was remembered with a FFA Porkburger Cookout where 1400 porkburgers were cooked, generating $5,000 in profit.

Also Wednesday, the North Clay board discussed the SRO program and the district's contract with the Clay County Sheriff's Department, but no action occurred. There were also presentations on trap shooting and bowling teams for North Clay High School. The student handbooks, which were approved, and the athletic handbook, which was tabled. An intergovernmental agreement for library services between Flora Public Library and the North Clay school district was approved. The Board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the North Clay Education Association on COVID leave administrative days.

In personnel matters, the North Clay board approved dock days for Larry Northrop for the remainder of the school year, hired Maddie Craig as junior high volleyball volunteer coach for next school year, accepted the resignation of Kaylee Flood as speech language pathologist as of the end of the school year, approved Gavin Hatcher as Tech Intern with Olney Central College this summer and early fall, approved Gracey Himelick with the Illinois Golden Apple program for observation hours with North Clay's Summer School, accepted Kim Harrison's resignation as junior high girls track coach, rehired the coaching staff for next school year, and hired Paige Kincaid as a cook for the coming school year.
