Ward Sentenced to Prison for Firing Shots at Local Motel

A man who fired shots at a local motel in November has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

27-year-old Micah Ward of Effingham was found guilty of discharging a weapon at Motel 6 on West Fayette the night of November 12, 2021. After securing the scene, interviewing numerous witnesses, and reviewing video footage, police later located Ward in the 1200 block of Wenthe Drive.

Ward was also sentenced to five years in prison for possession of a weapon and ammunition by a felon. He was sentenced to five years in prison on each of those counts.
