Altamont school board members Monday discussed an amended budget for the current fiscal year, but took no action, accepted a memorial from the family of Adela Goers, and heard a presentation from the high school Student Council.

The Board voted 5-1 to approve all changes to the student and athletic handbooks; approved a 2% wage increase for the coming school year for Amanda Dust and Mark Holland, and increased the pay rate for crossing guards for the coming school year to $13 an hour due to the minimum wage increase.

The Altamont board hired Klaiton Wolff and Josey Tedrick as summer help; hired Katie Lurkins as Activities Director; approved Jarielle Cameron for the BLT Team at the grade school to replace Mrs. Zimmerman who is retiring; approved the resignation of Grace Steppe as junior high girls basketball coach, with the understanding that she would like to stay on as a volunteer coach; and approved Robin Verdeyen as a substitute bus driver.

The Board discusssed seeking a tuition waiver that would allow staff members' children to attend school at Altamont if they reside outside the Altamont district, and approved three overnight trip requests. Those involve a trip to the state track meet in Peoria, the FFA State Convention in Springfield in June, and a girls basketball camp in Indiana in June.
