Tuesday marked the final meeting with the Effingham County Board's Ambulance Oversight Committee for representatives of Abbott EMS.

Abbott's five-year contract with the county concludes at the end of April. Rural Med will be the county's new provider of 911 emergency service.

Committee Chairman Rob Arnold thanked the Abbott representatives for "what they've done for Effingham County."

Abbott plans to remain in the county for other ambulance needs.

There was also recognition of this being Telecommunicators Week, and Arnold commended the TCs for the job they do.
