Today is "Jody Puckett Day" in Effingham.

Effingham Mayor Merv Gillenwater made the proclamation at the annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon sponsored by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.

Puckett serves as Director of Facilities and Support Services at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital and has worked for the hospital for more than 20 years.  She joked in accepting the award that now she knows why all of her department was present at the luncheon.  She said she was genuinely surprised at receiving the honor.

The other nominees for the award were Barb Butterson of Patton Printing and Graphics, Jodie Pruemer of the Effingham County Circuit Clerk's office, Nick Ramelli of C-W Motorsports, Coral Robins of Discount Eyewear, and Elizabeth Schmohe of Land of Lincoln Credit Union.

The guest speaker at the luncheon was Ken Vogt, CPA and Partner at West and Company.  Vogt spoke on "Respect: The Hallmark of Success".
