Representatives of the St. Elmo and Altamont school districts plan to meet to discuss the potential of consolidation of the two districts.

St. Elmo Superintendent Deb Philpot told her school board Monday night about a phone call she received from Altamont Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch.  During the conversation, Fritchtnitch said Altamont's board is initiating talking with St. Elmo district officials regarding consolidation and the benefits for the two districts.

After discussion by the St. Elmo board, it was agreed St. Elmo would agree to meet with the Altamont group to discuss the topic.

St. Elmo has just concluded a co-operative agreement in all sports with the Brownstown school district.

Also Monday, the St. Elmo board agreed on two-year terms for their officers.  Kevin Maxey was appointed school board president, Chad Wilhour was elected vice-president, Andra Carson was appointed school board secretary, and Marcia Heckert was appointed district treasurer.

The St. Elmo board approved a speech therapist agreement for next school year with Staci Gibson, accepted a resignation from Toby Harms as high school JV volleyball coach and approved the reassignment of Jeni Haslett from frosh/soph volleyball coach to JV coach.

The Board also approved three-year contracts for junior-senior high school principal Brian Garrard and elementary principal Sean Hannagan...and accepted the resignation of Cody Rincker as teacher and coach, as he has accepted a coaching and teaching position at St. Anthony.
