Two people were injured early Tuesday morning in a crash on the interstate on the north side of Effingham.

State police say the crash occurred at 12:49am near the US 45 interchange in the construction zone.  Police say a car driven by 18-year-old Anthony Thomas of Chicago slowed in the zone and was struck from behind by a car driven by 37-year-old Glenn Hoshauer of Vandalia.

Both drivers were injured and they were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.  Hoshauer was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
