525 New Positive COVID-19 Cases in Effingham County Monday Thru Thursday

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Effingham County continues to grow rapidly.

The Effingham County Health Department reported 525 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease from Monday through Thursday. When added to the weekend numbers released on Monday, they bring this week's total of positive cases to 707. That's a 68% increase from last week.

336 of those positive COVID cases involve people under age 40. 147 of those cases involve teens or younger. 

Three new COVID-related deaths are included in this week's numbers for Effingham County. Those who died were in either their 70s or 80s. One was unvaccinated, one was not up to date with their vaccinations, and one was up to date on their vaccinations.

That brings the number of COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began to 114.
