Effingham County Highway Department Says Seasonal Weight Limits Take Effect January 15

Effingham County Highway Department would like to remind everyone that Seasonal Weight Limits will go into effect from Jan 15th to April 15th.

Limits may be lifted from time to time if conditions allow and that will be posted on the county website (http://www.co.effingham.il.us/engineer-highway).

Limits are put into effect to help preserve the roads during the freeze and thaw cycles experienced this time of the year. Highway Department officials say they understand that this can be an inconvenience but the goal is to minimize these restrictions as much as possible.

Many townships have adopted current county limits, but please note this only pertains to County Highways; please contact your township road commissioner regarding any roads under their jurisdiction.
