The new Effingham Unit 40 School Board Monday voted to award a contract to replace the track surface at Effingham High School.

Track Surfaces Company of St. Charles, Illinois, was awarded the work.  While not the lowest bidder, the company was the lowest bidder who met all of the specifications.  Track Surfaces will do the work for $186,000.

Director of Business Rem Woodruff said the work would begin as soon as the high school track season ends.  The work should take about three weeks to complete.

Officials say the track surface has been in place about twice as long as is recommended.

The Board welcomed Steve Bone and Laurie King.  The two were elected to their first terms and veteran board member Brian Wick was re-elected.  Bone and King succeed Brad Meinhart and Galen Altman.

Delbert Soltwedel was re-elected board president and Carol Ruffner was re-elected board secretary.  Jeff Michael will succeed Altman as board vice-president.
