(THE TRUCK BEING PURSUED AS IT TRAVELED PAST OUR STUDIOS AT FAYETTE AND WILLOW)

A high-speed chase along US Route 40 that included Fayette Avenue was ended around 10:30am today.

The pursuit involved a white pickup truck with a camper shell that was traveling west at a high rate of speed. The truck went past our studios at Fayette and Willow.

Authorities have established that the pursuit originated in Greenup where the pickup truck was allegedly stolen from outside a bank. Greenup Village Police gave pursuit, which traveled along Route 40 west through Jewett, Montrose and Teutopolis before entering Effingham, where Police Chief Jason McFarland requested that the pursuit be terminated. The truck continued west on Fayette and across the interstate past La Pasada Estates. The road curves north there, but the pickup truck driver missed the curve and came to a stop off the roadway.

We are attempting to get confirmation from Greenup authorities about how the incident originated.

No one was injured in the incident.
