Two COVID-related Deaths, 28% Increase in New Cases Last Week

Effingham County's Health Department reported two additional COVID-related deaths and 153 new cases of the virus.

The deaths were of a person in their 60s, and one in their 70s, bringing the total of COVID-related deaths in the county to 106. The health department said both were not vaccinated.

New cases of the virus also jumped 28% over the previous week. There were 153 new cases in the period from Monday, November 22 through Sunday, November 28. Positive case demographics are below.

The 7-day rolling test positivity rate for Effingham County is at 8% through Friday, November 26, with Region 6 at 7.2%. The region's ICU availability remains in the red at 16%.
