Semi Fire on I-70

Effingham Fire Department responded to a semi on fire on Interstate 70 east of Effingham near mile marker 99 in the westbound lanes at 10:23 Tuesday morning.

The semi was fully involved when fire crews arrived. Fire was threatening the trailer but fireman were able to limit the damage to the trailer and it's contents of dish washers. Teutopolis Fire Department also responded to the scene with a tender truck to supply extra water. The fire was contained within 20 minutes of recieving the call. 

Westbound lanes of I-70 were reduced and completely blocked at times to allow crews to safely battle the fire.

The driver of the semi was reported to be out of the semi and was uninjured. 

The Semi owned by PTI (Paper Transport Inc.) from Pontoon Beach Illinois was hauling dish washers.

Heartland Towing handled the tow and clean up.
