Local St. Rep. Adam Niemerg is focusing on three issues during this final week of the fall legislative session in Springfield.

One is the vote on congressional district remapping.

The other two issues are legislative matters.

The Health Care Right of Conscience Act currently indicates that people can't be discriminated against by an employer by refusing to be immunized against COVID-19. The change being considered in Springfield would alter that. That is something Niemerg plans to fight.

The Parental Notification of Abortion currently requires the parents of a child under age 18 to be notified if the child attempts to obtain an abortion. The change being considered would eliminate that required notification, another matter Niemerg opposes.

Greg Sapp talked with Rep. Niemerg at his office in Teutopolis Monday afternoon about those legislative matters. Here's that conversation...

The session opens Tuesday and is scheduled to continue through Thursday.
