Two cars and a semi were involved in the Wednesday morning crash at Neoga that tied up travel in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 57.

The crash happened at 7:45am, two miles north of Neoga.

Illinois State Police report that cars driven by 60-year-old Jeffrey Diestelhorst of Neoga and 31-year-old Denise Kelley of Mattoon were both northbound when the Diestelhorst vehicle rear-ended the Kelley vehicle. Diestelhorst's vehicle left the roadway and crossed the median, then struck the rear of a semi trailer being pulled by a rig driven by 48-year-old Ashley Gholson of Mattoon. The Diestelhorst and Gholson units came to rest in the southbound lanes, while Kelley's car ended up on the northbound right shoulder.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Diestelhorst was cited for driving too fast for conditions, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt, and improper lane usage.
