Details have been released on a Friday morning crash near Stewardson that sent one driver to the hospital.

Shelby County Sheriff Sean McQueen said the crash occured at 11:26am Friday on Illinois Route 32 at Shelby County Road 150 North. McQueen said a truck driven by 42-year-old Jeremy Ford of Shumway attempted to pass at the same time a truck driven by 75-year-old Thomas Mette of Effingham attempted to turn left off the highway and the units collided.

Ford was airlifted from the scene of the crash to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment. Mette was examined at the scene, but did not go for treatment.

Ford was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, improper overtaking, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
