A Fayette County Sheriff's Department deputy was involved in a two-vehicle crash Monday night.

The crash happened at 9:11pm at the intersection of Coles and Randolph Streets in Vandalia.

Fayette County Sheriff Chris Palmer said a SUV driven by Annette Hartleib of Vandalia stopped at the posted stop sign at Coles and Randolph. A SUV driven by Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy Brock Rich was eastbound on Randolph nearing Coles. For unknown reasons, Hartleib failed to yield to the oncoming traffic and drove into the intersection, resulting in the collision.
