162 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Effingham County since Monday.

The Effingham County Health Department has announced that, when added to the numbers released on Monday, it brings the county's seven-day total to 261 cases.

The County's rolling test positivity for the seven days through September 13 is at 17%.

ICU bed availability in our region is at 16%. An area physician at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center shared earlier this week that a search for a bed for a patient needing additional services not COVID-related took five days due to the number of COVID patients that are hospitalized.

Of the 162 COVID cases in the county this week, 84 of those cases involve people under age 40, and 40 of the cases involve those teenaged or younger.
