City Police Investigating Robbery at Local Motel

Effingham City Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early today at a local motel.

Police were called to the Quality Inn Suites, 1304 W. Evergreen, at about 4:30am where a robbery had just occurred.  Police say the suspect demanded money from the desk clerk and then fled on foot.  No weapon was displayed during the incident.  An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Effingham city officers, assisted by the Illinois State Police and Effingham County Sheriff's Department searched the surrounding area and a K9 unit was deployed, but law enforcement officers were unable to locate the suspect. 

Effingham police are seeking the public's assistance in locating the suspect.  He is described as a white male in his late 20s, approximately 5' 10" and weighing 165 pounds, normal build, medium brown hair, shaggy goatee, wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded sweatshirt.
