Fatal Crash in Clay City Saturday

A Fairview Heights woman was fatally injured in a crash in Clay City early Saturday morning.

State police report a car driven by 40-year-old Misty Coughlin was traveling on South 1st Street in Clay City shortly after 1:30am. For some reason, the car started off the roadway to the right. Coughlin apparently overcorrected and the car struck a stump off the roadway to the left. The car went airborne, overturned multiple times, and came to rest on its top.

Coughlin was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
