A trucker was found dead in his vehicle at a local truck stop Friday.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said that 45-year-old Jason Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada, was found by Effingham City Police just after 1pm. Police has received a call to check on Wilson's welfare. Officers had been asked to check on Wilson's welfare and found his rig just west of the fuel islands at TA Truck Stop. Wilson's body was found in the sleeper berth of the semi. Rhodes' office was called to the scene at 1:25pm.

An investigation revealed that Wilson had left Las Vegas on September 5 and went to Lima, Ohio then was on his way back to Las Vegas when he pulled into TA for a break.

Wilson's wife told authorities that she had last talked with her husband on Thursday around 8:30pm. She said she attempted to call him numerous times on Friday, but could not contact him. Wilson had told his wife that he had been ill the past week.

Rhodes said no foul play is involved and toxicology results are pending. Medical records were requested from the Veterans Administration in Las Vegas and Atlanta. The investigation is continuing by the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
