Effingham County June Jobless Rate at 3.9%

The Effingham County June jobless rate was at 3.9%.
The rate is down from 10.6% in June 2020.
Total nonfarm employment in the county in June increased by 2,575 compared to last year.
Employment gains in the county were posted in Leisure and Hospitality (+900), Educational and Health Services (+500), Government (+325), Trade, Transportation and Utilities (+300), Professional and Business Services (+225), Other Services (+100), Financial Activities (+75), Construction (+50), Manufacturing (+50) and Information (+50).
Other area counties and their June unemployment rates:
Coles--6.2%, down from 12.2% one year earlier
Cumberland--4.5%, down from 8.6%
Shelby--4.5%, down from 9.5%
Clay--6.1%, down from 12.1%
Fayette--5.3%, down from 11%
Jasper --4.6%, down from 8.8%.
The statewide jobless rate for June was 7.9%, down from 14.4% in June 2020.
