Three people are in custody in connection with a residential burglary in Cumberland County Wednesday.

Those in custody are 26-year-old Anthony Haren, 32-year-old Tyrese Tyler and 22-year-old Darryll W. Kaufman, all of Salem.

Cumberland County authorities stopped a vehicle in Sigel just after 11:30am in connection with a burglary at a rural Cumberland County residence.  Harden and Tyler were taken into custody, but Kaufman fled the scene on foot.

Authorities got word shortly before 4pm that Kaufman was in a rural part of Effingham County, north of Effingham.  Effingham County Sheriff's Department authorities asked us to broadcast information that Kaufman was in the area and residents of the area got involved.

Effingham County Sheriff John Monnet thanked the residents who pitched in, saying one person was even on horseback to help with the search.  Kaufman was apprehended about 5:30pm in a creek bottom hiding under some large roots.

Cumberland County and Effingham County sheriff's deputies, Effingham City Police, Illinois State Police and Illinois Secretary of State Police all participated in the search, along with the many area residents.
