Minivan, Semi, Collide in Fayette County

A minivan and a semi collided Thursday afternoon in Fayette County.

The crash happened just before 4:30pm on I-70 near Vandalia. Illinois State Police report the minivan driven by 80-year-old Lee Ruth of Columbia, Missouri and the semi driven by 47-year-old Christopher Barnhart of Willard, Missouri were both eastbound, Ruth in the left lane, Barnart in the right lane. As traffic was slowing for a construction zone, Ruth lost control of the minivan and the front of the unit struck the driver's side of the semi. 

A passenger in the minivan, 78-year-old Rena Ruth of Columbia, Missouri, was injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment of what were termed non life threatening injuries.
