Altamont school board members approved a four-year contract with district support staff at this week's meeting.

Members of the Altamont Educational Support Professionals Association voted to approve the agreement earlier.

The Board also filled two vacancies on the school board. The resignation of board member Shelley Kuhns was formally accepted, then the Board named Chris Guse and Martin Reyes to fill the two vacancies. The other vacancy resulted when only three people ran for the four seats up for grabs on the Board.

Board members accepted resignations from Guse as high girls assistant basketball coach and from Eric Heiden as junior high boys track coach. The Board also approved Emily Koeberlein as a volunteer high school extra-curricular dance team coach and sponsor, and approved a family and medical leave for Lindsey Wendling.

The Altamont board also learned that work is progressing well on the Unit Office remodel with an estimated completion time of two weeks, but that work on the high school office flooring project is moving at a slower pace due to a need to do some floor leveling. It has also been determined that the vault door in the high school office might need replaced.

The Board suspended a student through the end of the just-completed school year and expelled the student for the coming school year, but held the expulsion in abeyance while the student attends an alternative school. The student cannot be on school grounds, attend or participate in any school function on or off school property during the time of the expulsion.
