A majority of voters in the Stewardson-Strasburg School District Tuesday voted in favor of an increase in the maximum levy rate in the district's Education Fund.

The vote among district residents who live in Shelby County saw 504 vote Yes as opposed to 426 who voted No.

The Board and Administration held a series of public meetings to explain their reasons for seeking the increase in the levy and how the money could be used.  They also discussed what might happen if the levy increase was rejected.

Voters also elected Robert Quast, Chad Smith and Bob Schlechte to terms on the Stew-Stras Board, Quast with 562 votes, Smith with 553 votes and Schlechte with 546 votes from those district residents who live in Shelby County, which is where the large majority of the district is located.

At Windsor, Karen Pfeiffer, George Glasscock and Vince Welsh were elected to the school board for four-year terms, while Nick Hendrickson was elected to a two-year unexpired term.
